Incidentally, a huge part of learning is about doing the same things over and over again. No wonder many kids don't like studying.

Doing the reps is a necessary part of learning. It is how we turn something that is new and foreign into something that is familiar and second-nature.
The problem? Getting kids to sit through an hour (or more) of putting in the reps.
On the flip side, your child likely has no problem playing the same games over and over. Or sit through a session reading an entire comic book.
